Hello, I know the job market is tough at the moment but I'm struggling to find information regarding the prospects for licensed/qualified teachers.

Do licensed teachers stand a better chance of getting a job? If so, how?

I know of the JET program but what other jobs can a licensed teacher realistically get in today's job climate?

Thanks

Licensed to teach which age group?

Licensed in what?

How much experience do you have?

How much international experience do you have?

You don't need a license or certification to get a job with JET.

International schools are the places to go if you have a license.

If you want to work in a mainstream school, there are a few options:

JET programme and ALT dispatch agencies for (mostly) public schools.
Rare direct hire positions in public schools (contact the BOE and pray).
Direct hire in private schools (with 3-year contracts that may or may not lead to rare tenure slots).

Again, none of these requires a teaching license.
