The recruiter appears to be the official recruiter for Aramco. Centre Point, where he has his office, is one of the most expensive office buildings in London.
There are probably regulations regarding paying expenses. |
Er...you misspelled "Center Point"...

| Aramco used to interview in swanky West End hotels. Seems strange they have an office there now. But they did fully reimburse travel expenses and flew people in from around Europe. |

I had an interview with BAE last month and they took my account details before the interview. They reimbursed all my travel expenses, hotel and taxi fares.
So I think it shouldn't be any problem if it is a legitimate Saudi Aramco.
Good luck....! |

To my friends VS and NCTBA among others.
I have been contacted by this guys for about 3 months now regarding a possible job at SRAMCO.
At first, when I got the offer, I sent off my resume for S&Gs. However, since late August, I have been accepted for an interview with them in Houston on Oct. 29th.
I didn't take the acceptance very seriously, so I would usually delete them from my email account. Then since last month, I have been contacted by a Mr. XXXX who heads up the recruitment efforts here in the US. At first the interview was supposed to be in Detroit, but was moved to Houston due to a lack of interest.
I tried to send him excuses saying the plane tickets are too expensive or the reimbursement is not enough to cover my expenses. But last Friday, Mr. XXXX called me and he said that he would personally pay for my airfare and for 2 nights at a hotel near the venue.
I said ok and he called me today to say that the check was fedex'd out to me.
Now, my question is; after reading this topic, could it be that I might be given a fake check?
One of my mother's ex-caregivers told us once that she fell for a scam in which she would cash a supposed cashiers check for several thousand dollars. However, when she got to the bank, the teller told her it was fake and that she would be liable for the amount on the check. She said the bank reported her as trying to defraud the bank. When she told the police, they told her it happened very often at the time. Although she was cleared of all wrong-doing, she still got penalized for the amount on the check.
This does give someone a lot to think about. |

"The check's been FedExed...", a modern twist to "The check's in the mail"?
I do know that if you are an account holder (which you have to be to cash a check at a bank) and the check doesn't hold up...you will have to fork over the bad bucks...
Personally, I'd wait for the check to clear. But really, if they represent such a big player in big oil, I'd be wonderin' why the hell they just don't buy the ticket themselves! Sounds shady to me...

This is not how recruiters behave. It is implausible. Behind this whole operation is some Nigerian gentleman in Ibadan or Port Harcourt.
You have been warned. |

I got the check on Monday. However, I deposited the check into my account so it could clear- amazingly enough, it did!
I have my tickets and hotel accomodations for Houston and I'm ready for my trip.
I also completed the brackground questionnaire and I honestly give myself a -80% chance of getting the job.
It doesn't matter- I'll go to the interview, wash out and then spend the rest of the time enjoying my stay in Houston- never been to Texas before and I might as well enjoy it on their dime right? |

Dear talktome,
In Texas, psycho might be more appropriate.
