|
|
I've been offered some part-time work by a company based in the city I live in, the company need to pay me into my bank account rather than in cash.
Is there any problem doing this? My main job is as a subject teacher in a high school. Am I allowed to take additional part time work and receive the pay into my bank account?
Does anyone have any experience with this? |

I have always insisted upon being paid in cash, after every class, for any part-time work. Too many part-time jobs will take advantage of the fact that you may be working illegally and not pay you.

Read your contract. Your contract with your main job probably forbids you from taking any extra work, or it asks you to notify them first. |

request payment in cash after each lesson. part time work is often unreliable in its longevity, so cut down your chances of any loss before it can happen.
as for contracts forbidding part time jobs outside, all schools know their employees do it and new contracts in some places are beginning to reflect that reality. contracts at the schools in our city for the past two years make no mention of part time work not being allowed. if your contract is one that still prohibits part time work, then ask. if your request is denied, then do whatever you think you need to do, just keep it quiet. |

I can't take cash for the job, and it's not teaching, it's web based work which the company legally needs to pay me for by bank transfer.
I can't see why my school would have an issue with it as it doesn't affect my teaching or have any conflict of interests but I'm concerned that an additional salary going into my account would be flagged up somehow? |

no-one is going to pay attention to or flag small amounts of money going into your account. banks have bigger issues to worry about. |

Please read your contract and the relevant Z visa and Foreign Expert Certificate laws regarding having part-time work (paid or unpaid) outside of your legal place of employment. |

Open an account at a different bank and then you won't have to worry about information being shared with your school.

Read your contract... and you will most likely see that it is not written in your favor.
By all means take side work if you can get it. My side jobs pay me far more than my regular salary. |

I read my contract before I signed it.
I demanded and was given what I wanted in a contract, before it being handed to me and before signing it.
I do not take a job that doesn't agree to my terms.
If you need so much money then why do you live and work in China? |

I love how 95% of this guys comments say nothing more than "read your contract" and he still thinks he is saying something intelligent. I think it is fair to say that personal experiences outweigh some random piece of paper written, in China, in English. People are asking these questions to see what their peers have experienced in this foreign country. Its easy to see who is succeeding here and who is failing based on the hostility with which basic questions are addressed. Dude, please dont respond. Nobody cares. |

Why are you asking us instead of your employer?
Are you shopping for an opinion?
Why not ask the person who you work for?
His opinion would seem more relevant than anon. posters on the net.

Yes, your whole 9 posts on the forum show how you are the voice of reason as well, right?
That's what I thought...
"I love how 95% of" people here come here expecting answers that can be clarified by reading the contract. The information is usually there but people are too lazy, unprofessional, and stupid to even read and comprehend it.
"It's in the contact but I don't think I should have to do it!"
"The contract says xxx, so do I have to follow it?"
"Now that I read the contract, I see it says xxx, do you think the school will change it for me?"
These kinds of comments are common-place around here and show just how pathetic and unprofessional people are here. It goes to show they have no concept of reading the contract before signing it.
Anyone who has no idea what their own contract even says, but comes here asking about such an issue shouldn't even be here at all attempting to do the job. Only each person knows what his/her own contract says. Without us seeing it, it's impossible to answer appropriately.
And more .... just sad.
Your nauseating comments that do nothing but attack an individual and have NOTHING TO DO WITH THE ACTUAL TOPIC is even more sad. You are actually so influenced by some raom, anonymous stranger online? WOW !!! Don't like it? Then use the private messaging system, because, as you said, "nobody cares."
Grow up dude. |

Its easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. Anyway, chances are nobody at your school cares, even if they could find out, which is well nigh impossible unless you open your mouth. Your school has no access to your bank information unless you gave it to them.
Just do it. |

I'm not quite sure why anyone would want to work a second job. 1 job is 1 too many for me.
I wonder what's in the treasure chest? Hopefully pictures of someone kicking back on the beach in Hawaii. Positive/Wishful Thinking prevails.
A trip to Disney World would be nice as well. Soon they will begin building Shanghai Disneyland. Perhaps I can get a job there?
In all seriousness, I once worked at Disney World in Orlando, Fla., USA. I even shook Mickey's hand.
PD
