Dear Magic Kingdrum Gang:
Late last week I got an email from the IGIT Group based in RYD to teach English with the Royal Saudi Navy in DMM. I replied, got a telephone call yesterday afternoon, and an offer an hour or so afterward.
I did ask if this was working for TINS (Technical Institute of Naval Studies) and was told NO! (When I did my duty assignment in KSA 2007-2008, I consistently heard that TINS was the PITS!)
$$ - 13125 SAR / mth (sounds low to me for working with military)
housing - provided or 39,375 SAR (x3 months)
transportation - 375 SAR / mth
vacation - 1 month (say they do not include the religious periods, which I found very odd) or if you decide to work that holiday, you'll get paid x2 for that month
Want me there yesterday because the government is hitting them hard to have people there IMMEDIATELY!
Any of y'all have experience with the Royal Saudi Navy in DMM and/or IGIT?
Thanks! |

The rumour mill a while back was full of stories that TINS had ceased recruiting EFL teachers. Maybe they have handed over to IGIT ? |

Hi everyone
I recently posted a topic regarding europeans getting a job in saudi. Which was a No then.... but however I recieved a call 2 days back by IGIT for a job and they said they can hook me up with the usual Business Visa deal....
Im aware of its ups and downs, but he I allways liked rollercoasters hehehe
I can handel it, Im wondering anyone working for them, I read a nice experience by couple teachers so far.
Any one has anything to offer.
PS: All europeans that want to go saudi, go to IGIT or EDEX they will hook u up..... |

The "Business Visa deal" IS NOT USUAL!!! It is a HUGE problem for people, but since there are SO MANY people ready to skirt the rules of a proper working visa that gives you a semblance of protection from abuse, it just SEEMS to be usual!!!

Umm... are they hiring you to teach English? Or are you imbibing? That is almost incomprehensible...

Obviously, they are not fussy about the standard of written English! |

hi everyone
"Never Ceased to Be Amazed".....thanks I read the debate, the Law and everything else that can be said about the Business Visa
"Vailedsentiments"..... yess its for a Teaching Post at the Navy, and I was wondering about the Life there and the company, also family as I have my wife and little one.
"Bebsi".....good one liner, typical eslcafe slogan. hehehe. when you said "a groupd of IGIT's" do all/most of you work for IGIT?? where and how is it.
"John".....backing up that statement is something I have to do, if my creater makes it easer for me to go out there. Thanks for the advice
Also whats the compound in dammam like, is there a different compound for people working in the Navy project?
By the way guys, for you who dont really practice or are not muslims how do you spend your time there???scuba diving? horse riding? sahara back packing? or just simply shoping?
And those who do practice how do you spend your time there????most time in the mosque, lessons in the deen or just drinking tea like any ol arab?
oh for the smart ones with one liners, just be normal not funny. And yess i can laugh it off hahahahahahaha see
thanks for the feedback peeps |

Dear nasir2209,
You're a good man to put up with such juvenile comments with such good humor.
I'm sorry I can't supply you with any of the info you requested, but, based of what I've read here, I'd say you'll do well in the Kingdom.
Regards,
John |

John:
Whilst yours and the others may have been juvenile, mine was decidedly puerile. Welcome to the board, nasir...
