Please were skirts that go long down to your ankles. Not see through not too tight. Your butt shape shouldn't be seen. Long sleeve shirts should go to your wrists. Colors in the office should be black, navy blue and brown. Abayas are wore in the streets, usually all female campuses abayas are not worn and pants not allowed.

Well, Tasha522, you seem to have a pretty good grasp of what one should wear. I hope your success as an English teacher in Saudi relies on this, and not on your standard of written English Twisted Evil

Wow! If this is the rule, then it was widely violated where I taught. Bright colors were everywhere. Even one of the Islamic studies teachers wore shades of lime green that required sunglasses just to look at her.

Colors other that the drab ones mentioned by tasha are allowed, and pants are allowed as well on many (if not most) female campuses.

There is no uniform dress code for men or for women. It varies from institution to another.

Scot - Indeed it depends from one college to another but there still is a code. Not sure if it gets applied to Men's side but it definitely gets applied on the Women side Sad (Perhaps who will know about this better than me)

No tailors? Are you in a small place? Did you try asking the students?

"Tailors" ?

They still have "seamstresses" in Saudi Arabia - 80 years after that breed disappeared from other parts of the planet.

Dear scot47,

"They still have "seamstresses" in Saudi Arabia - 80 years after that breed disappeared from other parts of the planet."

Ah, but there are so many other things in Saudi that have disappeared from other parts of the planet - and many of them did so a lot longer than 80 years ago.

Regards,
John

Like Mia, I've never heard of a place which had rules about what colours could not be worn at work. Some places don't let you wear trousers, others don't really care so long as you're not coming to work in shorts and a tank top, but I've never heard of anyone having a problem with bright colours.

I've never had a problem with colors or dress code. Common sense tells us that in Saudi you don't wear a tank top and mini skirt even at a girls college. It's "Forbidden"...(Haram)
