Does this book exist? Specifically in relation to FM 2s? AND in English?

I hope I am not asking too much, here, I am getting really tired of the answers I get when I ask about them. Far too often they are vague and include words like "stuff" and "thing". Oh, really? I need the number stuff and then I get a book thing? So very helpful, dearest ex-novio.

I want to branch out on my own after getting some experience(and contacts) and I would just really enjoy having the slightest clue about what I am doing, tax-wise.

You need an accountant, it's the only way. Taxes are declared monthly and it needs to be done right. An accountant can walk you through the process with hacienda (done mostly online) and tell you how to reduce taxes. Things are a lot stricter when you really pay taxes as oppose to working for a language school, not being registered and paying the school's taxes.

Forget doing it om your own. Accountants arent expensive, and, no, you wont get any help from the tax manin English. You can pay your taxes online but youll need someone to help you set it up if you dont speak Spanish.

The SAT site has an English section, but it is limited.

http://www.sat.gob.mx/sitio_internet/asistencia_contribuyente/principiantes/eres_extranjero/78_8615.html

I think the Fees section would apply to you.

(perhaps you could get SAT as a client and get to work fixing the English section of their site! Wink )

And your accountant's fees should be tax-deductible.

There was a time when I considered learning how to pay my own taxes after having used an accountant for a couple years. I thought I could become a little more self-sufficient and save a little money.

I went to one of the weekly workshops that Hacienda offers and figured that it was just too much to take on. It didn't seem to be terribly difficult, but I've got other things to concentrate on. You can get an accountant for anywhere between $250 and $450 pesos a month as persona fisica for your monthly taxes, plus the same amount to file your yearly taxes. 13 payments in all per year.

By the way, I started with an accountant a couple years ago at $300 pesos per month. The next year he went up to $350. The following year (this year) to $400, so I went shopping around. Other accountants who had quoted me lower fees before were at the same cost. Has anyone else seen accountant fees go up every year?

Are English teachers' fees the only one that remain constant?

If they give you a factura, which they never have in my case. When I've asked, they've told me that it would be ms IVA. Ironic, no?

Wow, that actually seems a little shady. You know your accountant, though.

I don't mind paying extra IVA as long as the expense is deductible.

I also pay more for IVA to help with the IEUTU tax at the end of the month, but for some reason I never pursued it with my accountant. Guess I figured that they'd be looking out for keeping my taxes down. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

How much do people pay for their accountants? I currently pay $250 a month for mine but she's outside of the city and at the end of the year I'm going to go with one closer to home. I expect it'll be $450.

I currently pay $417.60 per month, including VAT. My accountant charges based on how much I make, and I was told I'd be informed if the rate were to be increased.

Forgive my ignorance, but what's VAT?

Gotcha.

I know this is how some accountants operate with personas morales, but I've never heard of it with personas fisicias. For me it's always been a flat fee.

I guess, the logic being that there is just that much more work with companies.

That makes sense. I guess it depends on the accounting firm.

I don't think I'm in danger of being charged extra any time soon Laughing
