Does anyone have any suggestions for schools in Alex (NOT Amideast)?? I've got a part-time contract out there already, but I'm looking to supplement... I'm not actually going out until September, but I'm a plan ahead kinda gal... Smile

Also, is it easy enough to get proof-reading and other contracts? Some of my Egyptian friends do that, and I was wondering if it's worth looking into...

Hi Sekmet,

In my years in Egypt, I never ran into any proofreading jobs. I did pretty much support myself with private lessons, but it took me quite awhile to build up enough students. If you are interested in working with children, there may be more students available.

I never lived in Alex, so I don't know where one finds students there. Egypt is not the type of place where one is able to do much planning ahead. You might want to check with your Egyptian friends.

Thanks!! I don't really mind who I work with - at the moment I got a contract working with adults, so a few kiddie lessons mixed in there would be cool... Smile

Can you help me out with living costs? How much do you spend a week (on average)?

Hi Sekhmet,

I'm afraid that I would have no idea what the costs would be. I last lived there in 2001 and was in a high paying job at AUC with a portion of my pay in Egyptian Pounds - which were easier to spend than change into dollars. So, I was living rather high. Smile

With the crash of the pound in the last few years, I don't know what things might cost now.

Not to mention that I never lived in Alex and have no idea what the cost of living is like there.
