I love getting paid in cash except when they haven't got enough big notes and it doesn't all fit in my wallet!

Agree with Jeff, I can't understand why anyone would want to be paid in cash rubles. Raffeisen is certainly pretty good with its services, online and branches. Any school that can't provide electronic payment, even for a short term contract, isn't very well organised in my humble opinion.

lazy, or avoiding taxes!

Generally taxes are paid by the company, though check your contract, and if the company chooses to avoid tax it doesn't matter whether you recieve cash or electronic money, you simply wouldn't know and it's their responsibility.
The point is, banking should be about convenience for the customer and not a profit making exercise at the customer's cost, which is all it is. And that's because governments worldwide have and are legislating to force us to have our wages paid to banks and not us. The interest you get back for the privilege is negligable.
Why should my wage be given to a bank who makes money from it and charges me to get it back? Think about it. It's a wrong system that has allowed the greedy to get greedier and a major cause of the financial disaster.
If you think it's safer in a bank just look at how many banks have failed, how many investors lost their money and how much everybody who's money was taken for super lost. Meanwhile the bankers got richer.
You can tell I don't like banks in their current incarnation.
That's why I like cash, because I have the choice to put it in a bank if it will be useful or keep it under my bed.
Sorry about the rave, but just had to say it.
