| Do you know of any universities around the world that offer teaching positions with the opportunity to get degrees free or discounted while teaching?? If you do, please let me know which Universities. I am looking to move soon and would like to go for my PhD. My boyfriend will be coming with me and he wants to go for his Masters. Anywhere in the world, we really don't have our eyes on any particular country for next fall. |

Hm, well, you're going to have to narrow it down, a lot.
For what I know, little as it is, many unis offer some type of financial assistance for PhDs. IN fact, the place where I work actually PAYS the doctoral students to study here.
As for MAs, I got a half scholarship through my uni, becuase I was teaching there. I wouldn't recommend the programme AT ALL though.
Another thing for MAs, often if you go to a foreign, not too popular studying country, ex. here where I am, you can get a free ride or at least a partial scholarship.
Keep in mind that even if your studies are free, you'll need money to live on. So, if a PhD is four years and you're doing it FT; you'll need about, atl eat $500 a month, for 4 years, well, that's a hunk of change. |

| Do you have the names of these Universities? It says you're in Suwon. We're in Seoul at the moment. We know for a fact that Bilkent University in Turkey offers such programs, but what we're really looking for is more options with reputable programs. |

No, I don't. I suggest you go to the dinky ones though. Big name unis aren't going to offer free rides, or highly unlikely that they will. Just be aware that degrees abroad often don't have the same clout at home. Getting a degree from ABC uni in Korea or XYZ uni in Taiwan, probably won't help you. If it were Cambridge or Oxford, that's a whole different story. |

What about Bilkent like you said? Any number of unis might allow, but find out beforehand. Some don't let you study and work at the same place, citing that there are conflicting interests. I know the place where I am, allowed a guy to start a PhD, only to tell him 2 months later that he had to choose between doing his PhD or working. |

PhD is like having a full time job which takes up most of your time. Depending where you are you can always get studentships. Doing a PhD on self-funding is not common usually people get funding. Try this place. http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/esrcinfocentre/opportunities/

Singapore? Thailand? Probably a lot of places.
Narrow down the location, choose a program, then contact the university directly to see if you can work something out. |

| What's your subject area? Rice University in Houston TX offers a (small but passable) stipend for PhD students in the English dept. That's all I know off the top of my head. |
