Uhm...if you want to talk about hyperbole, you just engaged in it. I was just in the States over the summer and I wasn't used to the clean air after the KSA, due to dust in the latter. In the US, even in Houston, the air was comparatively so clear that everything seemed in sharp relief and I had to go around shielding my eyes from the bright sun, in Houston and up and down the West Coast.

Toxic mess? Come on, Mr. PC

If you want partying in Hail, I strongly suggest Funky Faisals for the best in hip-hop and house, or Nafud Nites for something a bit more jazzy and laid-back.

The Oasis Country Club is good for a few quiet cocktails by the pool on a Friday afternoon, and if you want a libation after work on Wednesday, try the Dunes bar at the Hail Hilton, or CDSami's at the Samah Centre, where all the really adventurous local chicks hang out.

However, if you wanna see the very best of night entertainment that Hail has to offer, visit The HiWay any weekend night, and you will see some really racy scenes. The local youth are all out in force, trying to outdo each other in their hot machines in an effort to impress. Why not come along and crash the party? For many, it's an uplifting experience where they feel as if they're flying. Everyone's doing Speed, and you are sure to witness some unforgettable scenes. After midnight especially, the lighting effects are memorable, with the blue-and-red flashing lights mingling with the flames to illuminate the night sky.

Be warned, tho: it can cost an arm and a leg!

Dear scot47,

You mean the "SACLU," don't you (and lots of luck finding the location of that organization?)

Regards,
John

Uncle Scott, try SACC, it is much helpful than ACLU or SACLU of Uncle Sam! Laughing

You mean, you can end up with other people in the SACC?

The SACLU (or maybe it's just SCLU) in Hail is next door to the cinema.

SCLU it all anyway, who really has ACLU what's going on?

Sounds like Bebsi doesn't have a SCLU about what he's talkin' about! Laughing

The comparison that I made was not between Saudi Arabia and North American cities, but between the city of Hail and MOST North American cities. My original statement is very clear on this point. Anyone who reads the reports of the World Health Organization knows that the air quality of most, not all, North American cities has been judged to be quite poor.

The city of Hail, on the other hand, largely because of its mountainous location and lack of industrialization, has very good air quality. To reiterate, my statement refers to one city in Saudi Arabia. Obviously this assertion would be inapplicable to all Saudi cities, some of which, as the writer suggests, suffer from problems of pollution.

Er, um, I think you mean, would not be applicable to all Saudi cities?

Inapplicable to all Saudi cities would, of course, mean it didn't apply to any at all!

I'm in a pedantic mood today Smile

Air quality in Dammam/Khobar/Dhahran is awful. One thing the locals have learned from the USA is that the Infernal Combustion Engine is the only way to go !
