No, this isnt a CELTA essay! However, I have studied CELTA and value the importance of helping students learn in ways in which they enjoy that also target their language needs.

I teach around 15-20 different general English adult classes spread over approximately 40 lessons a month. You do the math I get to teach each class 3 times a month if Im (theyre?!!) lucky. Establishing their learner profiles is becoming more and more of a challenge, especially as the school continues to expand.

With these factors in mind, I have come up with the idea of designing a questionnaire that assesses things like learning styles, likes, previous learning environments etc etc.

Given the large amount of data that will be involved (and quite frankly the likelihood of being paid for this venture), I would like to perform some kind of statistical analysis of the results, followed by producing some kind of group learner profile for each class.

Thoughts/comments/suggestions?

What exactly are you hoping to determine here? If you have 2 or 25 students per class, the stats are going to vary in significance.

If you just want to know something about their goals for learning English, ask and try to deal with the answers. If you want to know/assess their abilities/weaknesses, that's another matter entirely. A questionnaire will not be of much use, IMO.
