I plan to teach in Syria this year and wonder if anyone has any idea about health insurance in Syria. Also, has anyone ever used Betin insurance for travelers? |

You would have to look into travel insurance or international insurance. The second can be very expensive if you want to US to be one of the countries where you are covered.
Generally it is a pay as you go sort of country. Even if you have insurance, you would have to pay cash for any treatments and then turn in claims for reimbursement by any insurance later.

So, even if you buy health insurance from a Syrian company, the hospital or clinic doesn't just send the bill directly to the insurance company? Have you ever heard of people having problems getting reimbursed or getting a proper receipt? |

I've never heard of anyone buying Syrian insurance. I don't know if it even exists or if foreigners working on tourist visas would even be eligible. I doubt it.
