Hello,
Does anyone know which companies are currently hiring in Bankok, or good sources (e.g. popular job boards) for companies that are? In particular, since I'm currently in the US, which companies will interview and hire before you arrive?
Also, is it much easier to find a job when applying in person in Thailand rather than over the internet?
-Thanks |

Yes. But if you really want to have things set up before you get here, you might check out OEG (Overseas Educational Group, I think.) My school is using them to get teachers this year and I'm rather impressed. They get paid the same as direct hires and the school is required to pay for visa extension/work permit costs. Of course you'll still probably get stuck in a crappy school and you don't get to choose where you will live. They do a lot of hand holding. |

It's kinda the wrong time of year to be looking for anything in the way of a decent job. The majority of hiring takes place in March and April for the beginning of the term in May.
That said, there are always language academies looking for warm bodies all year round. The difficulty lies in getting one that will sponsor you for a visa and work permit.
You CAN get decent jobs in good schools from abroad if you have the qualifications (degree and TESOL cert or teaching qualifications (B.ed/license for the better schools)).
By and large the vast majority of language academies only hire locally and often won't sponsor your "B" visa and work permit until you are "proven" in the classroom. Their "requirements" will vary depending on: student demand and the availability of qualified warm bodies.
