|
|
I have seen several threads on the HCT Recruitment procedure, however I would like to know from all experienced HCTians, how long you have to wait to be selected for an interview. I have applied for a faculty position (Not ESL Science) few months back. I was successful in the preliminary screening and then they asked me to fill a questionnaire. I filled that and few days after I received an email from them saying that, I have been screened in for the post and they will let me know if they decided to call me for an interview. In the online recruitment page, I can see a green tick in the screened in column next to the column of selected for interview.
My question is how long this will take? Its been 2 months they screened in me for the post. Or does this indicate that none of the colleges are interested in my CV? One good thing is that they havent rejected me yet. From the forum, I understand that interviews for fall 2009 started from February and I dont know when this will end.
Any one out there got similar experiences?

I applied also for science, first in December 2008, and like you got a pre screen pass and then screen pass, and just this week got an email for interview tomorrow. I guess they do not give you too much time, I heard on monday, for interview tomorrow. |

It likely depends on their faculty needs and what else is going on. We were scheduled for video interviews within two weeks of being screened in, then got notice we passed the interview a week later, then got offers about a month afterward. I know they're hiring now for September starts, but it may be that they don't have openings for your specialty at this time. |

Word to the wise.
Watch what you talk about, ask about, know about etc. on this site.
The HCT goons scan the ESL Cafe assiduously. |

Thanks for all the replies; I had applied for a physical science related post not a pure engineering post. As homless vet said, it might be a fact that they do not have any vacancies available at the moment, or might had got someone already. Anyways my application will remain active in their so called pool until May end (6 months), still some chance to be called for an interview. If they wanted to reject me, they could have done it long time back. When they will end the recruitment for this September intake? |

HCT is usually good about telling people who will not be considered. It is not unusual to have an opening in September because a teacher may not return from leave for some reason or student intake can change. But, openings at that time are usually filled by local adjuncts because of the time required to get the paperwork done.
If you hear nothing by the end of May, I would get in touch with them as to whether you (or they) are interested in keeping your application active or whether you need apply again.

What new system?
You wait as long as you can.

reading this thread is like watching a waiting room of dr kevorkian patients sitting around saying, "when the doctor gonna get around to me?"
the doctor will see you soon, so take your last breaths of freedom and enjoy them!
