Not really... sorry... none of them are CELTA and I think that was the topic.
And Mr Hatter... no those online certs are useless. The whole point that employers are looking for is that you have had significant supervised teaching experience with real students.
Now... if you could just get your mother to pay for your ticket there.

Haha, yeah no money options coming from there. I'll just have to rough it out.
Thinking to fly and take the CELTA in London will be about 3500 USD. I'm thinking I can save about 2,000 dollars between now and June. Then put 1500 on a credit card. Not too bad, I guess. |

Gentlemen (and women) , I have a CELTA and six years teaching experience and I'm finding it hard to find a job in Saudi. For some reason I keep getting rejected |

| Oh, and CELTA courses are less than a grand here in London. A few of my friends completed the CELTA in the Westend (central London) but have stated that it was quite intense. They took the option of doing it in 2 weeks and 4 weeks, respectively. |

ARAMCO replied stating that I was unsuccessful at this moment but my details will be kept on file for any future positions. I doubt that very much. Just a nice way of saying 'get lost mate'. |

Help!
2 weeks for an intense course in CELTA.
I'd rather play Saudi Roulette (one chamber empty, 5 loaded).

It's not as bad as it sounds. The trick is to lock yourself away and concentrate |

Do you have a link to the information on the CELTA for less than a grand in 2 weeks or 4 weeks?
I'd appreciate it!
Thanks! |

Try the following links:

http://www.talent.ac.uk/courses_details.asp?CourseID=3586
You can find a lot more on Google. Just type in '4 weeks celta course in London'. Hope that helps.
Just a bit of advice, if I may: Try not to get yourself into too much debt. |

| What is more valuable for teaching in the Middle East, Trinity TESOL or Cambridge CELTA? Why is it a thousand dollars cheaper to get it in the UK rather than America? |

I'd say that the two are equal. And why is it cheaper? Have you taken an Economics course? Supply and demand!! There are dozens of places to get a CELTA in little ole England... and only a handful in great big 'murica.
BTW... do NOT try to do the 2 week course. Faster is not better. Take the time to breath and absorb... besides you have free housing, so you needn't hurry.
VS
(try to get a part time job and save up all of it... watch for sales on flights...) |

Madhatter109, I leave for Saudi in a week. I have no CELTA but a useless online TEFL (which are useful in Korea). I worked at a fancy pants school in Korea where the Prime Minister attended 5 minutes at one of my classes (surrounded by journalists and secret service). He spoke a wonderful American accent (you know, the intelligent accent).
The cost of living in Korea is very low and by doing some tutoring you can make some decent money. Skip the crap beer and learn to appreciate soju when you're buying and accept the multiple offers you get for drinks and dinner as a cheap English lesson. I tired of the non-stop drinking and the non-stop tentacle soup. Plus I need to work on my tan.
I have 15 years on you with teaching experience from being a Walking Boss in the publishing and cinema worlds. I'm sure that helped. |
