|
|
I would prefer to buy used, but will be a new bike if I can find something at around $500-600 usd.
Is this possible?
Will it cost more?
Is licensing easy to get a local Hanoian place number and not an "NN" number.
Any reputable dealers, or places to look at bikes?
Advice appreciate for any help. |

First off - if you're a Tay (foreigner), you can't actually buy a new motorbike because you cannot legally register it (UNLESS you get the "green card"/residence permit/work permit.....then you have no choice BUT to get the NN plates). So, generally, you hafta git a used one and just make sure that you get "The Blue Card" with it. The plate rides with the bike throughout it's lifespan.
NEW base-level tiny automatics ("scooters" like a Yamaha Mio and Honda Click) start at around 19 Million ($1000USD) and they only go up from there for mid-sized geared bikes (Waves and Sirius) and go up to 40 Million ($2100USD) for large automatics bought new (Nuevos and Airblades).
Used, you SHOULD be able to get a Mio or a Click or a Honda Wave in good shape for 10 - 15 Million ($500 - $750USD).
Take a Viet that you can trust with you......or maybe even go further out into the hinterlands/countryside, as stuff tends to be BADLY inflated in the city proper of Ha Noi......
Happy shopping! |

^ and ^^
Thanks for the comments. I do not want to put a new bike in someone else's name.
When I leave and have to sell it, that will just complicate things. And the licensing.
I'll opt for used.
Snollygoster, thanks for the link. I'm in Hanoi and I'll check out your link now.
I'll PM you.
Thanx. |

Are you sure about that? The Honda website has new Waves starting at 13.7m and going up to 27.6m depending on the model, including VAT. Your basic 110cc Honda Wave is between 15m and 18m. The Honda Click you mention though is much more expensive, at 26m, as are all of the automatics. Am I reading something wrong? I've been into the Honda garage, and the price list is the same. |

Interesting...I DO stand corrcted!
One friend of mine up North bought a two-year old Yamaha Mio for 11 Million, and another bought a new Click for 19 million!
I have no idea what is up with the Waves!! I had tried to purchase a used one less than a year ago and EVERY place I went to would REFUSE (NOT even negotiate) to take anything less than 15 million for it....
Most of the prices I get are from people who have actually BOUGHT said bikes.....so, I prolly am incorrect on a couple of these prices, but if you walk into an automobile showroom, generally you're NOT gonna pay sticker price! Individual results may vary |

The prices on the Honda website are the same as the prices in the store, and they are not negotiable, in my experience. |
