Hi

Does anyone have any experience working with/for the British Educational Centre in Moscow? How is the school/conditions for EFL teachers?

Can you post some details of their address,website etc?Although it sounds very official,any private firm can use such a name,espeically in a country like Russia.As a golden rule,its best to presume the worst until they prove otherwise!

if they're in zheleznodorozhniy, then they're affiliated to bkc, but they don't use that name for some weird reason (possibly tax). wouldn't touch them with a bargepole myself. i know of two teachers who were shafted although the director goes on that they're "all one big family"

This is just a Moscow satellite town to the East of Moscow,rather similar to Balashika and equally boring,I'm sorry to say,unless Macdonalds is enough to keep you entertained!If it's BKC franchise then say no more,although the last person has given adequate warning!Do not be fooled either that because it's outside Moscow everything there must be cheaper...groceries and things you are likely to need are not and its just a ruse to justify paying you lower wages!

Don't make the same mistake I did, and don't try to work for the BEC in Moscow or Krasnodar. They are incredibly disorganised, the majority of the staff speaks little to no English, they shuffle your between schools and apartments, can barely keep a regular weeekly class schedule, and WORST OF ALL, they have NO sense of how vulnerable foreign teachers feel in what is actually a fairly xenophobic country where there are few froreigners.

I work for BEC Krasnodar as a Senior Teacher...I certainly recognize the authorship of this above post by someone who was not offered a job at the school.

The support staff aren't expected to speak English but they all do regardless at around Upper Intermediate level. They are quite amazing. I have worked for a number of schools and the staff here have been an absolute godsend.

The apartment I was given upon arrival was 2 years old and I didn't share with anyone.

Split shifts are an occupational hazard but they try and avoid them.

Xenophobic country? Well i will leave that comment alone.

Anyway i love working for the school. This is no advert, just some balance.

oh and BEC are not part of IH but they certainly were once.
