Hi! Has anyone here actually worked for CERT, as opposed to HCT? What's it like? To be more specific, as someone said in this string, are the students very badly motivated and are the pay and benefits less than regular HCT posts? Thanks |

People already employed by HCT were told a year ago that they had to get an MA in either Applied Linguistics or TESOL before their next contract renewal. Progress towards the MA has been checked recently. The policy is, you teach in your specialist area so if your first degree is geography, no matter your experience of teaching English language, you need an appropriate MA. This may be an accreditation issue; the Higher Diploma is being phased out and all new students are now registered for Bachelors of Applied Science. CERT is different but in reality, getting solid facts about this sort of thing is very difficult and very dependent on the prevailing situation. |
