What did I expect? Something more than your pathetic answer.

There is a war in the south of Sudan - drawing to a close, so that Cheney and the other oil vampires can get what they want. Therefore, do not condemn Sudan for anything.

This situation in the west of Sudan is being ignored by the rest of the world.

You are in Yemen - the latest pariah state to come in from the cold, with offers of military help, cash for development and so on. In return, all Yemen has to do is drop its drawers, bend over and be shafted by George and Tony. Its amazing what lots of money can do to change peoples minds!

Having looked quickly through your postings, I wouldnt really expect much intellectual sense from you.

Of course, if you are such an authority on the Arabic language and Arab countries, what else can we do but bow down to you.

I've been studying Arabic for about a month, and I can read and write reasonably well provided that you don't need a simple sentence transcribed/translated in less than an hour! It's not overly difficult, and if I was a little more dedicated in my studies I'd become reasonably fluent by the end of the year...

Using even appallingly bad Arabic in Yemen will get you better prices or service in shops. And if that weren't incentive enough to learn your HOST COUNTRY'S (I need to put that in bold - coming to another country and refusing to learn the language is like plunging into the ocean and refusing to swim) language, the local people and your students will be delighted that you are trying to learn their language. My students think it's wonderful that I would even think about coming to Yemen, let alone having a crack at Arabic. And I don't believe there are insurmountable difficulties posed by regional Arabic dialects.

Its not overly difficult? Reasonably fluent by the end of the year? Arabic dialects?

Thanks for not faking intelligence...

Jeez Louise! Enough, already!!! To the original poster--if you truly care about spreading the word, then why are you letting this thread degenerate into a flamefest? You could use this forum to inform, rather than insult. (Even if you feel that the other poster started it, why play along?)

So...Hector, what's your point?

War in Sudan? Gee, tell us something we don't know.

And why should Sudan get our attention, but not Angola, Tajikistan, Myanmar, Colombia, South Bronx, etc, ad infinitum?
