| People who expect KSA to be a rule-bound society do not understand how it works ! |

Whatever happened to the illuminating Mr. Brown??? He exploded on stage like a racist-exposing, TMI-posting supernova, but seems to have collapsed into a pulsar!
Now, my heart does bleed for him!

Yep! I'm guessing that it was the "bleeding" comment that walked him to the edge and the "Engrish" parry led to a fatal thrust...
The bad die quick...and it should be a message to a certain poster to stand on her own two feet rather that yell "Yeah!" from behind the back of a loser straight outta th' gate!

Is anyone else confused by this (from the link above):
Suitable applicants who pass the strict selection process and successfully complete the training may be offered a position as an English Language Teacher to support Royal Saudi Air Force Training Programmes at various locations in Saudi Arabia
English would be desirable

That is one of the more bizarre ads I've seen for English teachers... max age 28 (they apparently want the naive and easily controlled newbies) to teach English even if they don't speak it...

A club that all of us get to join before we know it.
Quite the example of ageism there... sounded rather like a child who thinks his 45 year old uncle is absolutely ancient.

Not at all, I am already one foot in this club myself. I do not have hair and have a big girth and am getting all wrinkled up. And I am anxiously reading the ads for many jobs that I am not qualified for anymore. But at the same time, I see all these smug faces of older folks looking like they are perfectly in control and who are enjoying a good life in Saudi inspite of the advanced age. So, what gives? How can I be like them? |

I was hired at 58+. Now, I am over 60 and contract is renewed annually! Plenty people well over 60 here!!
Generally, with contracting companies, age is no limit!
Apply for any position you are interested in!!!! |

As with everything here in KSA, the rules can be bent. For example, last week I saw a guy get "let go" cause he was 60 years old BUT there are at least two other guys there with the same job who are over 60. The rules are there if they want to be enforced otherwise it doesn't matter...

What is the real age limit for work in Saudi? I have heard it is 60, 52, 55 and a whole full gamut of numbers. Then I see people as old as Mathusela ( sp.) working at colleges there with heads held high and a spring in their step walking around proudly. What gives?
Some say- get into this/that place before you are 45/50/55/60 and then I see something else. |
