I have been set on South Korea, but I have also been considering Taiwan. What would you think? I am wanting to teach kids, which I know S. Korea has more openings for. What is your opinion on the two, their pay, and comfort of living? I know a bit about S. Korea, but I am still researching on living and teaching in Taiwan.

I am certified, but have one more semester in my undergraduate degree in Art History (minor in English).

Thank you.

Without a completed degree you can't get legal work in either place.

Certified as a teacher (home country teacher's license) go to Taiwan. A public school position there is better than anything you will get in Korea.

Just a bachelors degree and no home country teaching certification then head for Korea; you will be limited to working in language academies if you go to Taiwan.

Do be aware that further discussion about Korea in the international forums will result in your thread being locked. You need to register on the Korean forums and place your query there for further information on Korea or the comparisons between the two.

Dear Iza,

Why not try the Taiwan forum? Posts regarding Korea aren't permitted here. From "Announcement # 8":

"Please do not post questions or comments regarding living and teaching in Korea on this board. The Korean Job Discussion Forums exist solely for this purpose and contain a wealth of information and resources pertinent to Korea.

This policy is applicable to all forums here on the International Board.

If any Korea focused comments are posted on the International Board, they will be deleted or locked and sanctions issued as warranted.

Separate registration is required for the Korean Job Discussion Forums and registration here on the International board does not automatically transfer to the Korean Job Discussion Forums:"

Regards,
John
