Does anyone know anything about Changchun University (CCU)? I have been offered a job with very little formality but have been waiting a few weeks on the papers coming through. They now tell me it will be January before I hear anything. Should I be looking for something else? I know it is cold there and the salary seems low but neither of those things really bother me if they are ok to work for. |

Which University in Changchun? It was nearly -60 C here this week, are you sure you want to come here? I have double pane glass, with a thick layer of ice and our heating works when the heating factory works. When that place stops working, its hell. |

As far as I know it is just called Changchun University. It is situated at the junction of Renmin Street and Weixing Road and the website is www.ccu-edu.cn/engver/index.html I knew it was cold but did not think it was -60. Anyway there seem to be a lot of people there so it must be habitable at least. I have heard that the people are quite friendly also. I got offered the job at the begining of December but they have not sent me the invite and I wonder how serious they are. I don't seem to have a lot of options as for some reason, maybe my age, ( I am 55) I'm not getting many decent job offers. I would really appreciate any help or info you can give me. I can't pm you as I new to this website. |

Last week the recorded low temperature in Changchun was -26c, and the wind chill factor dropped that to a record low -57c.
If you round to the nearest double decimal zero, one could colloquially say it was -60c. |

This is a very interesting discussion about temperature calculations but can anybody give me any help on the university? I live in Scotland and it is about -18 just now which is ok by me and I am prepared to try and cope with the cold. I don't really understand why they are taking so long to get my papers and I wonder if this is normal as I have heard elsewhere it only takes a couple of days. |
