MS-word, resume wizard.
If you have related experience, list it first.
If you don't then list your academic credentials first.
Resume,
name, personal information, contact information.
experience in reverse chronological order
education in reverse chronological order
other related experience or hobbies that could relate.
Keep it short - 1 to 2 pages tops.
Cover letter should address the job application and be 1 page.

You might want to do an Internet search on resume guidelines.
Additionally, so many applicants make the mistake of listing job duties or responsiblities under experience/work history when they should be describing their accomplishments, outcomes, or objectives in each position in order to stand out above the other applicants. For example: Taught 15 middle school students using self-designed curriculum. This is a basic responsibility on its own. But what was a result from teaching this class? How did the learners improve? Now consider the following: Taught 15 middle school students using self-designed curriculum. Improved attendance and classroom behavior by helping learners discover the value of education through interactive learning. This is just an example, but I hope it gives you some ideas on how to best present yourself on a resume. Good luck! |
