"Out monkey the Monkey"
Sayings of Chaircat Meow
If you want to play the Arab game, first know the game rules. The more you know about the system, the more you can do to the system. First thing to know is the Saudi Labor Laws.
Survival: Have many allies and information resources.

I did neither. I took your first comment which was really a non-response to my comment. It suggested that either you hadn't read it or intentionally constructed a "straw man."
In other words... of course it is Fascist!! No one ever said or even suggested that it wasn't. Thus you had constructed a straw man to fight over...

Dear brasscat,
"First thing to know is the Saudi Labor Laws."
And the second thing to know is how useless those laws are when you have little or no wasta and your employer has lots (which is the situation 99.9% of the time.)

One thing Western people fear the most is a nuclear weapon. The Arab fears the Embassy.
1. Make an in person contact with your Embassy. It worked great in the "Bill of Oz Caper".
2. Attack the rear. Send a letter to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C.. Reason: Political embarassment and loss of face.

Dear brasscat,
"1. Make an in person contact with your Embassy. It worked great in the "Bill of Oz Caper"."
1. Lots of luck with that one. Embassies in general (the US embassy, specifically; I have personal experience with them) couldn't care less about the trials and tribulations of their citizens. They are there for two purposes only: business and high-level politics.
"One thing Western people fear the most is a nuclear weapon. The Arab fears the Embassy."
Yup, just like I lie awake nights worrying about a nuclear strike.
2. "Attack the rear. Send a letter to the Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C.. Reason: Political embarassment and loss of face."
This is all irony and satire, right? I mean, you CAN'T be serious.

The Bill of Oz Caper worked exceptionally well on Al-Issa and the PMU crew. Bill went home 48 hours after the embassy bit. Prior to that nothing was done for 6 weeks.
You just have to know the right phone number to get the right reaction.

Totally agree with John on this one... that was all humor right? Worry about the bomb? Not since the 50's.
The only way to get any attention from a US embassy is to die on their doorstep... then they might send the remains home... but your family will get the bill.

Dear veiledsentiments,
Well, ma fi mushkila - let those who think brasscat is right try it and find out for themselves.
Of course, I hope they'll have a back-up plan.

Saul before he was Paul on his way to Sham (Damascus) came across a blinding bright light. There was a one way exchange of information.
"Why do you kick against the pricks"?
These "pricks" that you kick against in Saudi are legion and numerous far beyond our ability to fathom. All you will get is a bloody foot. Over and over again.
I myself kicked once and am lucky to be able to walk and have since aborted the idea of retribution. I, we, and and most everyone is here for one reason: to facilitate numerous amounts of dollars into our accounts. Don't be fooled by their piety and continuous calls for prayer. I was a better Muslim before I came here and my wife used to read the Koran daily. Now we're rather jaded.
Merry Boxing Day.

That's rather a strange take on things.
Firstly, your previous posts suggest that you are not a Muslim. I thought of you as an angry, money-mad Yank (no offence intended), of a different faith.
Secondly, what has reading the Qur'an daily, or the decline thereof, got to do with living in Saudi? I'm a bit confused. Surely that shows a lack of faith on our part and perhaps we shouldn't blame others for our shortcomings...yes, the Saudis have a less than impressive image but a person's lack of implementation of their religion should not be blamed on others. I may be wrong and you are more than entitled to disagree.
Finally, If our faith is being sacrificed for dollars, is it time to return?
Thanks. |

Well that means one and only one thing.................
You don't live here and therefore don't know.

In any work relation there is a contract between management and work.
That has never entitled either party to abuse the other.
Consider: If the Saudis could do our jobs, why do they need us?
Consder: What happened when the Communists oppressed Eastern Europe? They lost it all.
Even the worst tyrant fears the workers when there is discontent.
Perhaps a teacher's union is needed for ESL people.
