apparently i'm allowed to work on a working holiday visa and i was wondering what sort of restrictions they had? i've tried searching online, but nowhere could i find the max number of working hours allowed.
also, do eikiawas and places like GABA typically accept short-term people on working holiday visas? |

What is your country of origin? If there are restrictions on working hours, your local Japanese embassy's visa page will detail it. If it says nothing about restrictions, then there are none!
I am a UK citizen and on the Japanese embassy, London's website it details that working HOURS are not restricted, but the NATURE of the work is http://www.uk.emb-japan.go.jp/en/visa/work_hol.html
Under "Other Information":
"Applicants will not be able to engage themselves in activities, which are considered to go against policies of the Working Holiday scheme such as working at places where businesses, which may affect public morals, operate."
Which basically means, no bar / nightclub work, and no SEX TRADE (mizu-shoubai) so, glamorous as it may seem, host / hostess clubs and soaplands are out  |

General starting point.

From there, see what your specific country of origin has to say. Most, if not all, will be characteristically vague. Just remember that WHV holders can work PT or FT. They just aren't expected to do it long-term/on a regular basis.
Some eikaiwas take WHV holders. Some do not. Their choice. |

Companies with those kinds of entry-level jobs LOVE people on working holiday visas because they don't have to mess around with visa applications and they can get them on short notice. Drove me nuts when I was trying to get a first job to sponsor my visa over here. |

yeah, i figured many places would like people on working holiday visas, but i just wanted to make sure.
i'm a canadian, so i believe i have 3 months on this visa. i'll check again if and when i get the jobs i've applied for. but, does anyone have any suggestions on places with short-term contracts in japan? |

But Canadians can get 12 months on a WHV (6 months initially which can be extended by 6 months by immigration within Japan). |

"# Applicants must enter Japan within 12 months after the date of issue of the visa; the visa is valid for twelve months.
# A period of stay of up to six months will be initially granted at the port of entry. This may be extended up to another six months by the Immigration Authorities in Japan."
