I was recently offered a job making 1385 OR total, including housing allowance. How much money would one be able to save with that salary? How much would you be paying for a car, apartment, etc?

The assignment is in Mussanah.

Thanks

I assume that you have read about the continual problems at Mussanah over the past few years. There has been lots of turnover in staff and management.

How much you can save, as always, depends on your lifestyle. There won't be much to spend your money on up there. So, if you feel the need to drive to the glittering lights of.. Sohar... or Dubai too regularly, money can disappear quickly. How much you pay for a car depends on whether you will be happy with a used Nissan Sunny taxi model (AC and a radio the only options) or a shiny new Hummer to impress... someone... (who is actually impressed by those gawdawful stupid vehicles) or a used 4WD so that you can bash wadis on the weekends.

Hopefully someone will come on with current rents, but let's say... 300 OR for rent. Most would manage to save about half of the remainder. (if they didn't go for the Hummer) Laughing

300 is way too much for rent. a simple flat should be between 150-200 and a villa between 200-250. To rent a car is 150 a month, no more no less.

Most of the problems at MuCT was with their HOC. Which she has now left and things have settled down.

Are you referring to a furnished flat or will new arrivals need to buy furniture? What comes in the average flat?

Most flats are unfurnished but with A/C at a minimum nowaways.

For example; I pay 190 for a 2 bed 2 bath fully furnished flat in Ibri, which is a decent size.
