|

Before I post my resume here at Dave's I am wondering about some precautions. How much information is safe to include and if I get contacted how can I verify the source before sending information? I am thinking to include in resume copies of degrees and certificates. Should I just list name of school and certificate? Other hazards to watch for? |

There's always a risk. Post contact info only. No ref contacts. No copies of degrees or certificates unless asked. |

Posted resume (as compared to actually applying for a job resume)
Name and contact e-mail.
Experience (keep it short and no need to name employer specifics here (yet)).
academic credentials (cert and school).
[email protected]
Expereince:
2005-2008 - Wallmart, clerk
Education:
BA - USC - Berkley, 2009
For a posted, on-line resume, keep it simple and very short (1 page).
Your biggest problem won't be identity theft as much as it will be spam.
Open a new e-mail account (google, yahoo, etc) for your contact address so your regular e-mail account isn't killed by crap.
Or better yet, just apply to ads that you see here (and elsewhere) by e-mailing your resume / application package directly to the recruiter/employers rather than posting here and filtering through all the spam you will get.
Use a regular resume with details for this along with a scan of your degree and (passport type / professional) photo (for most places outside of North America).

I post my DOB, place of birth, almost full name and job details. I don't post reference info just becuase I don't want them annoying my references, not because I'm afraid that they're going to steal my identity.
I also send passport, degree, cert, reference letters (but with no contact info) to employers that ask. I don't blacken out details on my passport either.
Touch wood, I haven't had issues yet. |
