sure, go ahead, what's it matter, right?
but don't complain when you find your employers
don't fulfill their part of the contract.
they never intended to pay you that contract completion
bonus; they just lied and said they would.
i'm sure you won't mind.
what? oh...that's different. |

First put yourself in the shoes of your employer. Getting good teaching staff is difficult and requires serious investment from the school. How would you feel if your school decided they did not want you for 'no good reason' upon your arrival? You'd probably be writing a 'shocker' of a review about them pasted allover the internet in no time. Thankfully for teachers, there's no such blacklisting internet sight for school to write about teachers.
Also, consider the impact on your teaching colleagues. They will then have to cover the classes of a liar with no integrity.
Do everyone a favour and honour your contract or keep away. |

You are potentially screwing over your coworkers and are being selfish. |

Maybe you could come here to study English...I think that if you were to leave after 7 months, providing you left your flat in order, there wouldnt ba a problem. |

Regarding accommodation in Shanghai or wherever, what is the deal? Do you have to sign up for one year or can you pay month to month? In Japan they have guest houses, or gaijin houses where you have your own room, but share the shower and kitchen. It is a good way to meet other ex-pats. How about China, they have these? |

fair enough, if you break the contract they shouldn't complain.
but as we all know, every coin has two sides! if they offer you 2000 rmb
per month, plus free noodles, and shared accommodations in a chinese dorm
would you take the job?
of course you would! as you say, you have no choice, and must be
one desperate (FIB). i assume from your posts that you have no other
prospects, so will take whatever scraps your new chinese overlord
throws your way.
and as they fail to provide a working visa, deduct miscellaneous 'expenses'
from your pay, or fail to pay you at all, you won't complain. they
didn't intend to honor the contract after all. |

We sure do. Take the job. Work through your contract. Stash the cash. Update your resume. Move on. |

If that's your attitude then why not stay home and work? Dude. Something tells me you're not what employers are looking for so you came to China. |

OP,
Kind of harsh around here, but I agree, better not to lie. Is Shanghai your only option? I know for a fact that there are a lot of places that will give you a 6 month contract, I would bet even in Shanghai. Search a little harder and be up-front about your intentions. If you really want to work in China, there are 6 month options. If you are a good teacher and the place likes you, they will probably be happy let you stay on a few more months. |
