| Colleagues in Jubail certainly believed the customs could check hard drives for hidden files using a machine. |
It's called a computer. |

My experience has been quite different. I have lived in Saudi Arabia for 2 years now (ah, it seems like just yesterday when I discovered this board and posted my anxious questions about how I would be probed at the airport )
I was so worried about being searched at the airport the first time I flew to KSA that I threw away all of my household medications (aspirin, maalox etc.) only to find out that I could brought in a nuclear warhead in my bag and no one would have known.
I have never been checked (or even LOOKED at) during my travels back and forth from KSA. In fact, I don't even know anyone who has ever been checked. Luck of the draw I guess. |

| Have you ever bought an Archie comic in the Kingdom? If so, then you would know that even drawings of girls in a bikini are completely blacked out. In fact, almost half of the comic book was blacked out. |

| And yet it's perfectly legal, and popular among expats, to obtain satellite TV service with uncensored movie channels. |

Don't be so smart, SJ.
Look what I found:

KJB Securities Porn Detection Stick - P9904
The Porn Detection Stick is a thumb drive device that will search through all the images on your computer. Scan them for pornographic content, and create a report of suspected pornographic images. It even scans deleted images and Internet cache files so there's no hiding Internet activity. This means even if Internet Explorer cache files are deleted, many images can still be recovered and scanned for pornography. Best of all, no software is installed on the target machine so they don't know you've performed a search. You can even securely delete objectionable images. |
Whether they have it and use it here in Saudi or not, I don't know. It is quite likely, though.

So I see that posting images has been disabled... that's a bit silly. |
