I am ending a contract this month at a university and moving to another city and province. How long does it take to renew all the necessary working and residence documents?

My contract and everything ends January 31st, so I am starting to get a little anxious.

Once the PSB receive the passport and other necessary documentation, it takes them around a week or two to process the residence permit. However you should factor in that it usually takes the school a week or two to get the necessary documents.

Depends on the school, if they have their heads screwed on, they can get the documents in a week, then process the residence permit in another. The process will be shortened if you are in the same city or even province as you will not need to send them anything via the post.

Your contract ends on January 31 st and you will be moving to another province. You need to contact your new school and have them send you the contract and check it carefully and then send it back to them and note of any changes you want made. Sign it and get the ball rolling. Spring Festival starts on February 2 or 3, 2011 AND you know that nothing will get done for the next 7 days. I lived in Hefei for 3 and a half years and it usually took 10 to 14 days for me to renew my Visa and FEC. One year I stayed in Hefei during National Week in October and helped coach about 10 students for an upcoming speech contest. My contract ended at the end of January and the FAO secretary wanted me to stay in Hefei for Spring Festival. I told her NO, I told her to use her "Guanxi" and she didn't understand me. I went to a good friend at an English training school and he gave my passport to a lawyer friend , whose daughter I helped in a CCTV Speech Contest and I had my new visa in a day and a half. Like all/most things here, it depends upon who you know. Confused
