DON'T take this job! |
Thanks again for the post Glenski. She said the reason for not being able to start the process now was because she needs my original college diploma. I take it this is BS? |

Partly BS, depending on exactly what transpired.
Immigration will accept a certified copy, and if you provide sealed transcripts with it, that will help even more. But you do not need a college diploma original. I take it you balked at providing it because you didn't want the original lost or damaged?
Also, to say she wants you to come right away, you will still need some time to settle your affairs (apartment rental for one) before you can get a plane ticket. Either she is being unreasonable over that, or she is scamming you. |

She didn't even ask if I would be willing to submit my original... She probably assumed that I didn't want to send it (which I wouldn't). She actually said the position starts in April. I'm currently teaching in Thailand so I wouldn't be able to head over there till early April due to my current contract. |

Wait, wait, wait.
She knows you're not in your home country, but that doesn't mean your degree is in the U.S. For all she knows, you could have needed to take it with you. Or even the simple fact remains that you could very easily obtain it, without having to travel home!
Write her off. |
