|
|
Hi everyone!
I'm in Quito at the moment and would really love some extra work on this side. I'm already working with a language institute, but the pay and hours are only so-so.
What I'm more interested in is something like administering tests or grading tests or something like that. Low key, easy to do stuff in between the other hours I have at my school. Does anyone know of any places that are looking for testers/graders at the moment? I should mention I've got quite a few qualifications if that is important.
PLEASE NOTE!: I'm not interested in private tutoring unless there is a way to make sure I'm paid. Many of my friends who have tried private tutoring have had difficulties when it comes time to collect money because people just keep saying they'll pay them next time.
Thanks for any help on this! |

Ecuadorians are well-known for not paying for, or not showing up for private classes. I dont offer many private classes anymore because I dont have the time, but when i do, I tell them they have to pay for a month up front, and if they dont show up, its still counted against the balance, as I have made time for it, and was available. That way you get paid, and it also weeds out the students who arent serious about wanting to learn. A lot of prospective students wont go for it, but I figure that weeds out the ones who wont pay. |

Good idea on your part. I'll have to suggest that to some of the people here. I had a friend who was getting paid less than $5.00 for private tutoring (though she doesn't have any qualifications besides a BA) and no one was paying her.
I don't think I'll be able to do much with private tutoring because I'm on a limited time frame as well, but thanks for the info. |

Wow less then 5 bucks. When i was in Ecuador I charged around $10an hour and I wasn't even in Quito. I had my students pay before the class started and if they didn't have the $$$ then no class. I also gave the first lesson free for them to see if they liked me & I liked them. My students were pretty good of texting me if they weren't going to show up (am talking teenagers) with at least 2hrs noticed.
As for your original question... if you are good at reading Spanish you can do some translating work or prep students for the English test to get into country's military schools. |
