dear lynn
fear not
for yaramaz
hath brought ya in
and spread the cot
where all there was
was clay and dirt
and someone's shirt
upon the floor
inside the door
of yara's yurt
She gave ya tea
and mopped your brow
and broke a biscuit
in your mou'
and asked ya how
you felt again
and wer yu better
now the heat
had warmed your breast
and were yu feelin
up to walkin
the irish setter
Yes yaramaz
was most concerned
to see you rest
and get you warm
she took your pulse
and fed you milk
and watched you lest
you start to balk
and spit the dummy
she touched yr wrist
and said yr fine
and nursed you back
to modest health
and sent you on your way again |

My goodness, khmer, you rose to the challenge!
Ahem! (cough cough)
A haiku
In yaramaz's felt yurt
serenity heals lynn's wounds
On the steppes, so calm |

the cattle are still
heads bowed, weapons lowered
sadness haunting them |

the battle over, stillness
no more lessons until lunchtime

wel, that was weird
in fact, a little strange
but I think you not deranged
no
oh no
I am flattered
and happy
I like my poem a little sappy
I am here
I never went away
but I'm not here to stay
I'm here in the Seattle messle
and I do longer do the TESL
check it out and see
what I used to be

I see you used to be
in the hospitality
and immigration line
at Broadway and 49.
You've scooped the dirt on schools
Run by Quacks and Fools.
A few of them were good
Around the neighbourhood,
The rest were visa mills
With various thrills and spills
And personnel to grapple
With in the big, Big Apple.
If it's any consolation,
Despite their reputation,
And if it's anything like here,
They're gong bust my dear,
Dozens alerady this year,
At least that's what I hear. |
