I've been in Fes, Morocco for the last year and a half with my wife and we have never felt unsafe.

(The only exception being reports of pickpockets and muggings)

We've also traveled to Casablanca, Tangier, Chefchaoen, the Sahara (Rissani/ Merzouga), and Marrakech and can report nothing bad.

I feel safer here in Morocco than back in the United States because guns aren't widespread here among the populace.

The American Language Center system in Morocco has schools in many major cities and (at least in my experience) takes good care of its teachers. I'd look into the ALCs if you are interested in Morocco.
