Hiya
Where are the best places to teach English within the UAE, for a qualified MA in Linguistics( + 7years experience + CELTA)? (incl. 1 year Middle East.
I am talking about, money, decent place to work and live. I'd be bringing my family along too- so a family visa would be important.
Thanks! |

the only gig i know of that fits that description is zayed university, but unfortunately the place is like fort knox. next, i would try kustar and then fatimah school of nursing. sharjah university has a new foundations director and i hear that things are getting better. sharjah and dubai american universities might be worth a look. just apply to them all!
as far as iat and hct goes, there is enough information in the forums to give you a good idea about these places. you will make money but you will be miserable. apply to these two IF none of the above works out AND if you really want to go to the uae.
i'm sure others will have better advise or different opinions about the gigs in the first paragraph.

The usual suspects are:
American University in Sharjah (very competitive... limited hiring)
Zayed University (same problem)
University of Sharjah (has not needed to do any hiring for awhile)
American University in Dubai (spotty reputation...)
and then...
UAEU (which is probably not doing any hiring)
HCT (which will be doing a lot of hiring... BUT)
They all bring families, provide schooling allowance for the kiddies, along with the usual benefits of free furnished housing (in some combination), medical, tickets, gratuity... salaries are similar.
Use the search to check them out. (be sure to use "search all terms")
