Hey guys,. I was wondering what your holiday entitlement is in Malaysia.. In China mine is 3 months paid (1 in winter and 2 in summer). When I make the move to KL my holiday entitlement will be 1 week every 3 months...

Well, I can tell you about my experience. For the 4 years that I worked in Kuala Lumpur, I basically had a one-month break in between the three semesters run each year. Thus, I had 3 months off in 12. Add to that the ~14 national public holidays, I was often concerned that there was not enough time in-class to cover the syllabus.
For the past 11 years, I have taught at a school with only two semesters per year. We are given 25 vacation days, plus those 14 national public holidays. In between semesters, there is not much to do except visit Dave's ESL Cafe and other such sites!
It is not a heavy load.

It depends upon what type of school.
Colleges with three semesters in one year typically have new semesters beginning January, May, and September. Best time to interview is in the two months preceding the new semester.
Colleges and universities with two semesters in one year begin new semesters in July/August and January.
Do a google/bing search on the following names, which are private companies that run college/uni programs.
Inti
UCSI (S = Sedaya, but buried under the acronym now)
Taylor's
SEGI
Sunway
Montfort
Nottingham U (of UK)
UniSEL (= Infrastructure University of Selangor)
KLUIC (= KL University Infrastructure College)
Yeah, the names are weird, but they start off with something simple and then make acronyms and then acronyms of acronyms. (They love acronyms.) |
