Hi everyone:
I am interviewing for a couple of jobs in Abu Dhabi.
Can anyone tell me what the air quality is like? I have had trouble finding a report on this and I have asthma.
Thanks |

Depends on what you sensitive to... there will be car exhaust as the traffic is pretty heavy... dust since it is on the desert... various pollens since many gardens have been planted... and the chemicals that they put on those flowers and trees.
I have intrinsic asthma rather than extrinsic, so my main problem was the wide fluctuations in humidity. Depending on the winds, it can be extremely high or quite low. Mostly it is very high because the prevailing winds are off the water.

Air quality is rather poor due to automobile pollution among other causes, like still burning off gas from oil wells instead of capturing it and using it. Also, the locals often leave their car engines running for hours while they are on the job or in class. They do that so the car will be nice and cool when they return as their air conditioners are on.
Your health should come first. |

Well... the profile says San Francisco, so urban auto pollution will be a known factor. I lived in Cairo which is many multiples of the pollution in the Emirates, and I had no problems with my asthma. It is a quirky condition and very individual.
