|
|
I wanted to post this in hopes of reading a response from someone who has actually taken a 100 hour online TESOL Course.
Usually online training takes less time than advertised is this the case with the online TESOL Courses? Do they actually take 100 hours for a 100 hour course?
I will end up taking the length of time needed to complete the course correctly I was just curious and wanted to see if anybody could give me a response concerning this.
Also if you can add the accredations that an online course should have that would be excellent! |

It really really depends on you. I have a friend doing a course. There are 20 modules, so she figured she'd be able to finish in 20 days. It's taken her 6 weeks so far and she's only half way through.
The 100 hours are an estimation. It depends on your background, access to materials, actually buckling down and studying, etc. |

Online courses aren't accredited (unless you've found a new one) and are not accepted in many parts of the world.
I assume you plan to use it in China - it may be accepted there. Giving us some more info regarding what you hope an online cert will do for you in terms of your CV/resume and job search would help you get better advice on the issue. |

China is the target for use, and a 100 hour tesol course was what i was looking for to satisfy many employers TEFL Cert request. What would be the best accredations for online courses? |

There is no accreditation for online courses. They're all considered subpar compared to the onsite 120 hour, 6 observed lessons class. |

Just a note: Virtually ALL online courses list some kind of accreditation on their website. What most DON'T have, is any meaningful accreditation.
The majority of them are much of a muchness. (Pretty much the same.)
There was a course at ontesol, I think, which was accredited by TESOL Canada, which is probably better than average.
In general, for your current purposes, any online cert that gets you the right piece of paper will do what you want.
If you ever change countries in the future, though, you may find yourself "cert-less." (Meaning that in spite of the experience you have by then, many employers may consider you completely unqualified.)
Best,
Justin |
