Hi,

I am in the process of sending out my resumes to
as many places as possible, but personally ECC is my first choice.
If I'm lucky, I'll get an Amity interview this month though.

If I end up getting hired by Amity, that's great,
but being optimistic here, ECC might hire me as well.
However, ECC interviews may not be until March or later.
How long is an appropriate amount of time to make Amity wait
for my response (if they hire me)?

They will probably give you a deadline. I doubt you will have more than a week to accept the offer.

Thanks for the reply.

So would it be okay to accept Amity's job offer
and then decline it in the case that ECC gives me a job offer?
I'm just initimidated about there being any strings attached.

Usually from my experience they give you a deadline ("Please respond within the next 10 days", etc) although the sooner is always better of course. If you accept the job with Amity and then later hear back from ECC with a positive outcome, I would be up front with Amity and say that you are no longer interested. Unless your interviews are really far apart there should still be time before the whole ball is being rolled on your COE application which was my big worry when I had something similar occur last fall.

In other words, if it's only a week or so between it should be fine.

You can accept the offer, but just don't sign a contract or anything!

Where I work we tender an offer and give the applicant 2 or 3 days to respond. If they don't, we rescind the offer and give it to someone else. Plenty more qualified applicants where the first one came from. . .

Also keep in mind that if you accept an offer and they begin to process your visa with Immigration, you cannot accept another job and have a visa processed through another company until you have the first company cancel the process--Immigration won't allow the sponsorship process with 2 companies simultaneously.

Good luck.
