I'm considering getting my CELTA cert at International House Madrid this summer, in anticipation of starting into the TEFL field.

I've searched the forum and found a few threads mentioning IH Madrid, but they are several years old. Does anyone have any up-to-date info on this school and their CELTA course?

All the old info I've read here makes it sound very reputable and overall a great place to get my CELTA. Just curious if anyone has had a bad experience there in the past year or so that I should know about. Change in management, etc.

Otherwise I'm planning on applying soon. The price is very affordable, accomodations seem decent enough and also affordable.

We now have a teacher training web site which gives up-to-date information on all our courses, including CELTA. The address is www.ihmadridtraining.com
We are one of the more established centres - in fact, the current CELTA was modelled on the original IH Madrid pre-service course. Please feel free to contact me at any time for more specific information about our courses - Steven McGuire. Director of English Teacher Training.

Hi,
I know this post is over a year old but i have just started filling in the application form for this CELTA course starting in June but was a bit concerned about going in June, not sure if Madrid went quieter over the summer months? Or how hot it gets to be doing full days of classes everyday.

Also wondered if you enjoyed the course if you did end up goin last summer? Have you managed to find a job since finishing it?

Any info you have would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Going in June means you'll be waiting until late September/early October for the next term to start. It'll also mean you'll be too late for any summer schools as most of them will have already started. Try and get on an August course if possible.

And yes, Madrid is unbearably hot in June, July, August. It's why a lot of teachers try to find summer camps back in the UK or other parts of Spain. Its not comfortable at all.
