My school is supposedly getting the FTs' legality in order soon. Hope so. Bullet point #3: Without exception? Doesn't sound very China to me. The post below was made by a visa company; not sure if there are any ulterior motives here...
MOD EDIT
Starting this March 2011, enforcement of existing and new regulations with regards to obtaining work visas while in China will be strictly enforced and adhered to.
We received this warning from both the Chinese Consulates and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Beijing. This is a national mandate and applies to all provinces.
We were advised that the following should be expected:
* There will be no more conversion of F visa or L visa to Residence Status in China.
* Those working on F or L-visas must leave the country in order to obtain the proper entry visa for purpose of work or study.
* Starting March 01, Without exception, there will be fines assessed and deportation procedures implemented for those individuals caught working illegally in China.
* The price for visas is expected to change.[/quote] |

Who issued this mandate? I can't find it on my Chinese consulate's website. |

If you google the quote you can see where I found it. I didn't realize I shouldn't post the actual link. The person who wrote it is from a visa company, and they have their inside sources and scoops. I doubt something like this would be on the consulate's website. |

If it's from a visa company, then I wouldn't trust it 100% - their focus is revenue, not dissemination of facts. |

That does not apply to only the visa company, does it? The "focus" around is pretty difficult to figure out. One day it's this and the next day that and then the third day back to what it was the first day. But i don't think we get back to what it was a decade ago |
