If you are going to respond to my question could you please attempt to be informative versus using this as a creative writing showcase. |
I apologize for seeming a little flip. I meant to say that if someone unconnected to a school contracts a foreign teacher directly, then their only purpose would be to farm the teacher out to one or more actual schools. In such a case, who does the teacher rely on for questions? How available is the contractor? Such an arrangement is dangerous for the teacher, not to mention the commission the contractor will probably continue to extract. |

I thought Randj gave you excellent advice. I was wondering about the recruiter path myself. He made perfect sense to me. |
I was just hoping for more then a comment on smelly animals... No matter |

It was quite a good response. He was telling you that recruiters who hire directly should be avoided, like a skunk. Most recruiters, well the only meaning of the word in an employment sense, are a bridge to connect you with work for an organization. If they are contracting you directly they are an employer, not a recruiter.
As randyj mentions, it is very sketchy to be employed by someone who farms you out. They have no control over your work conditions but are responsible for guaranteeing them (among other problems). |

Thank you for you response. I think I am just being short because of my frustration with the situation. I am currently under such a subcontract with no good way out. My contract holder has a stipulation signed by the school that they can never hire me directly. She pays off the head administrator to keep this status.
My only choice is find another job at the end of the contract. Unfortunately for me is that it is a great school, great working environment and I really like the students. It is the absolutely best name in China and I would give anything to work for them directly... live and learn. |
