I just got a teaching job in Korea (govt. job) that pays $26,000--$32,000 USD--housing included. I don't speak Korean although I have friends in Tokyo (2 hour plane ride away) and Seoul.

Originally, I planned to go to Taiwan to keep studying putonghua in an institute while teaching. But with the pay the Korean job is offering, I can pay back my college loans/credit cards in one year!

Are these wages comparable to wages in Taiwan?

xie xie,

misslaoshi

Doesn't sound like much, but it does seem higher than average for beginners here. I assume you'll be putting in long hours, since it's a government job. If that's the case, it may not be any better than putting in long hours here.
