1) Where is it?
2) What's the pay like?
3) What do you have to teach... how many hours?
4) How satisfied are you?

I'll start....

1) I work in Fuzhou at an Australian-Chinese joint venture Uni.

2) I make 11000RMB base with 1800RMB housing allowance. I get FULL PAY for winter holiday and 1/2 pay in summer (have 2 months off and get paid 1 full salary).

3) I have to teach EAP (but it's not really EAP.. it's general English .. cutting edge book) and Business English. I teach 18 hours a week and have 5 office hours.

4)Yes, I am kind of satisfied.. LOVE the students but its the way of doing things that annoy me.. the uni know the course books are too hard for students, which make it difficult to teach, but they don't care... If students fail they still pass... problem with these joint ventures is it's all about the $$$$$!!! Even when my boss comes from SH the meetings are a waste of time as he just tells us to do what the uni tells us to do... doesn't really care about the students.. Oh, I aint really looking forward to Business English,... Taught it in Italy before and HATED every second of it...

Maybe I would be better at a middle or high school but that would mean taking a pay cute of around 50%

What's the point of this? What useful purpose does this sharing serve? This is the 3rd time in a month you've posted your salary here. Weren't you looking to leave China?

Someone's in a bad mood today. Just thought it'd be interesting to see different satisfaction levels from fellow teachers...

Yes, was looking to leave China but didn't.. isn't that my right!?!

1)Work at a joint American-Chinese University in Shanghai
2)I get 22k/month, not to mention numerous perks like maid service, laundry service, and 2 fully paid round-trip plane tickets per year.
3)I teach 4 hours a week.
4)To be honest I find that my job sounds too good to be true, but I felt like bragging about it on an internet forum anyways.

Location: An Eastern province

School: a public three-year college

This term's schedule: six hours per week, three days per week, three-day weekend.

Class size: 25 students

Apartment: off-campus, free, Four room, furnished, upholstered furniture. Free utilities. Free internet. Computer provided (but I use my own). Free cable TV. Water delivery (not paid). Probably among the the best apartments offered by any province.

FAO: a sweetheart

FT Liaison : see above

Bonuses at the end of the term

Downside: pay is often (but predictably) late. School is partially privatized (or was), thus the slow pay. Twenty-minute bus ride to work at the secondary, older campus. Older campus conditions are not very good in some class rooms.

Pay: 7,000 rmb per month.

I'm thinking about demanding a raise. I'm being exploited.
