My husband and I are trying to go teach in China. I have seen some schools offer an insurance stipend per year but it only covers one month of the premiums I have seen for most health insurance companies for international dwellers. Most rates I have seen would cost more than we make each month. What do most teachers do for health insurance while they are abroad? Do most schools offer insurance or do people just go without? This could make or break our decision to go and so I am really hoping someone can help advise. Thanks! |

Some go without, but the majority (at least I hope!) are covered at work by their employer. I have insurance here through NHS in Korea. I worked in China as well and can't remember if I had insurance or not. Whoops. I do know that a COMPLETE physical, blood work, xrays, EKG, sonagram cost me only $25. |

Post this in the China section. Health insurance varies by country. |
