Hi all,

I'll be leaving Japan in June to head back home to the UK, and I want to do a bit of travelling/sightseeing on the way back. I'd like to visit somewhere relaxing/tropical and possibly Italy or somewhere in Europe. I'm even thinking of maybe New Zealand or Australia first.

Just wondering if anyone has done any travelling after leaving Japan, any recommendations on cheap flights or where I should go?

Cheers!

Thailand is a popular choice for people who are heading out of Japan and one of the cheaper places to get flights to. I've spent a lot of time travelling in South-east Asia and it's an interesting area.

I'm going to plug New Zealand as well since it will need all the tourist dollars it can get in the next few years- this earthquake as well as a massive disaster on a human scale is going to seriously mess with our economy. Christchurch is a bit of a write-off for the time being but there is still plenty to see in NZ.

you could take the Trans-Siberian train. I knew someone who left that way.
