Is it true now that to get a Z visa, well its getting tougher and you will have to go to your home country now possibly then comeback to China. Can you get an L visa in Hong Kong if your time runs out and then convert it to a Z without having to take a trip back home? |

There seem to be rumors, all in all though I don't think it works like that. In most cases you have to enter on a Z visa to get your residence permit although some places will be able to change it for you - it seems to be a matter of who your school knows and how much they can pay, I entered on a tourist visa and mine was changed with no hassle what so ever.
You will most likely have to take a weekend in Hong Kong or something, legal seems to be a very grey area here. It's all about who you/your school knows and I don't think that will be changing anytime soon. |
