Waiting to be air-freighted out?
Lobbing bits of street at the military / police?
Dodging UK / US made tear gas and / or bullets?
Writing urgent blogs for posterity?
Relaxing by the pool being attended to in that expat way?
or ...er... preparing lessons? |

And posting on Dave's.
"History is a trash bag of random coincidences torn open in a wind. Surely, Watt with his steam engine, Faraday with his electric motor, and Edison with his incandescent light bulb did not have it as their goal to contribute to a fuel shortage some day that would place their countries at the mercy of Arab oil." Joseph Heller, Good as Gold

Desperately trying to call Yemen. Phone shut-down; apart from al Jazeera, no inside news since Sunday. Is there anyone on this forum in Yemen at the moment? |

Ok; finally got through. It's tense, but so far, things seem to be contained. Up to a point. This may not last long in Aden, though. |

There was a job advertised in Yemen the other day. That's what you call optimism! |

Still toiling at my dead-end job.
Adjusting the date of my Philippine vacation to May from April.
Playing the Mega-Millions California Lottery (worth $240 million).
Refocusing on my ESL career plans (in case, I don't win the lottery). |

Thinking about women.
Well, DUH. In the tragic kingdom of Saudi, what else do you think I think about. Since I didn't come here to blow all my savings on multiple vacations, I don't see a woman's face for months and months. (350 km. west of Riyadh in Nowheresville) |

I know how you feel.
California is the opposite of Saudi. There are so many beautiful women in the Golden State: buxom blondes, ravishing redheads, attractive Asians, lovely Latinas, etc. And they are everywhere, dressed in anything (or nearly nothing)!
But, as an out-of-shape, middle-aged man, I can only drool from a distance. |

Playing California's Mega-Millions Lottery (worth $312 million!!!).
If I win, I won't have to drool from a distance anymore. |
