Hi there, I need some advice on our situation. It's a bit different from most, and I don't trust our employer to sort it out correctly.
My wife and I are both expats, working as English teachers in Indonesia. My wife is pregnant, and will break contract in mid-April (too pregnant to work past that point). At that time, our employer will cancel her KITAS, and she'll need to exit the country and get some other kind of visa to allow her to stay in Indonesia and give birth here. I'll continue working on my KITAS.
Our employer had originally started to move forward on a sosial budaya visa for my wife, until they realized that that visa is just for situations where one of the people is an Indonesian. Obviously, they haven't had much experience with couples in our situation.
Does anyone know the name of the visa we need to get (two foreigners, one working and the other not) to allow my wife to stay here? I don't want to send her out of the country every month to get a visa-on-arrival.
Also, if anyone knows any websites (preferably in English) where I could gain more information, I'd be hugely indebted. |

okusi.net run by a canadian guy what used to work for (maybe still working there) the jakarta post. very knowledgable and generally responds quickly to emails. he is a little more expensive than some other agents, but no hiddne fees or sudden add-ons. so might be cheaper in the long run. all of my friends have had positive experiences wth that company. he used to be on jl jaksa but looks like he has moved up in the world. good luck. pretty crappy of your employer to cancel your wife's KITAS.

When I grew up in in Jakarta, my dad was working as a company director and my mum was on a Ikut Suami Visa it was valid for a year. I was attending JIS at the time for highschool and my visa was IKUT ORANG TUA ... also valid for the year. |
