I looked more closely at the CENEVAL program, and it looks more cumbersome that I had anticipated. My total cost to do it would run over $10,000 pesos, and involve several months of work. So I may put it off as well.
My current employer is not asking anything more beyond the qualifications I already hold (and just about every teacher that works there holds far far fewer qualifications), but I thought about adding some more bits of paper to make myself more marketable, especially at the university level. But to be honest, I've not run into any specific university jobs that topped the salary I'm already making. And I'm not really interested in anymore training, or any bits of papers that are less than degree-level.

I wonder if these employers actually take other things into account when they close the door to candidates without the necessary pieces of paper.
Compatibility with the goals of the organization, ability to solve problems and work with initiative, and ability to actually do the job come to mind.

The SUNEO system of state universities in Oaxaca is a great experience. $11,000 pesos a month net at least, with a bachelor's degree. They mainly advertise openings at www.esljobs.com .

I am currently taking a course at the Universidad Panameriacana that focuses on teaching adults. While I have experience teaching adults, I don�t have anything on paper. The course appears to be quite good, the teacher also teaches the CELE course, and commented that the content is the same as well. While the instructor is Mexican, he speaks perfect English with a British accent. It is mostly taught in English, with the course devided into about 1/3 Mexicans for whom English is a second language, 1/3 hybrids like me who have lived pretty much half in Mexico and half in the US, and thus speak English with little to no accent, and the remaing third strictly native speakers. The course appears to be fairly demanding, we got the syllabus for the entire course, and it looks to be pretty comprehensive. The course is offered twice a year, starting in January and in August.

I'm working in korea right now teaching adults. I think I might like to end up teaching university students in Mexico, and I am thinking about getting a masters to facilitate that sometime in the next few years. I have looked around online and found a few one-year masters programs in Australia for TESOL.

Would those be respected in Mexico? Or do they want American degrees?

Australian degrees are accepted.
